Binstock & Sons provide engraving and lettering services for new monuments and existing headstones across all Sydney cemeteries.

The most common and durable engraving method. The lettering is permanent, requires no maintenance and will remain legible for the life of the monument. Cut-in lettering reads clearly on darker granites in particular and is the recommended option for most new memorials.

Cut-in lettering filled with genuine gold leaf, giving the inscription a rich, warm and highly visible finish. Gold leaf is a popular choice for families who want a more elegant appearance, particularly on black and dark granites.

Cut-in lettering filled with white, silver or black enamel paint. A more economical alternative to gold leaf with a clean, clear appearance.

Letters are engraved above the surface of the stone, creating a three-dimensional effect. Raised lettering is particularly common on bronze plaques where it is cast as part of the plaque itself, and is also used on granite monuments for a more prominent, tactile finish.

Names, dates, epitaphs, verses, prayers and personal messages. We advise on layout, spacing and font selection, and prepare a full design proof for your approval before any work begins.

Crosses, Stars of David, Orthodox icons, crescents, floral motifs, doves, angels and many other symbols can be carved or laser etched onto the monument.

Cultural emblems, family crests, national symbols and community-specific designs can all be incorporated where the cemetery section permits.

One of our most common services is adding a second inscription to an existing monument that has already been installed for the first partner.
We match the original font, lettering size, style and layout of the existing inscription precisely, so the completed monument reads as a unified whole. We also handle the cemetery permit application and any approval required before work begins.
